ROW80 check-in

I wasn't very good about tracking my writing these last few days, but I did write. I also sat down with the Children's Writer's and Illustrator's Market Guide and identified 32 markets and 6 contests I can further investigate. Since my plan is to submit at least one piece every two weeks this year (and so far I've submitted nothing), this is something to get me going.

I started working on the take-home pieces for my church, but didn't get as far as I'd hoped. I also wrote two more blog posts.

Last night I pulled out the goal-setting tool I mentioned in a previous check-in, and started working through the initial exercises. I should finish the preliminary process this week and will plan to start using it next week. I'll tell you all about it once I've used it for a couple of weeks, because by then I'll have a better idea of how well it's going to work for me.

Hope everyone's having a productive writing day. Not so much for me - had exercise class this morning, am meeting a friend for lunch, then it's off to work. By the time I get home I won't be able to do much more than eat supper and connect with my family.

Susan, I love your enthusiasm; but I feel the urge to say 'don't push yourself too hard where your goals are concerned'. ROW80 is about making the goals work for you -not put unnecessary pressure on yourself; you don’t want to stress yourself out or fall in the burn-out pile; it doesn’t do any good to your creative stead. Two weeks submissions can be much if no writing is happening; so please take a deep breath, sit back and learn to enjoy the process of writing rather than feel pressured to submit work –you’ll see you will be that more productive. Stay positive; you’re on a great journey! :)

You are so good to keep trucking through! It takes a lot of courage to keep going when it feels too hard, but I'm with yikici, don't let yourself get overstressed!

Best of luck with your goals!

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Maybe I AM putting too much pressure on myself. I guess it's better than NO pressure at all, though - right? I like to think of it as motivation :)

Although not much writing may be happening now, I do have several pieces of work that are complete and I can submit those to publishers...
