Last week I walked a total of 30.5 miles (aka 49 km), thus the pun in the title of this post :) And I lost two pounds over that period. I think a secret of making exercise work is to mix things up a bit so the routine doesn't get stale. I did six different walking programs offered by Leslie Sansone and Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. Thankfully, my health has been good so far this year, and I haven't fallen victim to any cold or flu bugs, so I've been able to work out every day. Taking vitamin C and other immune-boosting supplements has been helpful. I didn't remember to take them every day, but I was better than I had been. It helped to keep a daily record for accountability.
I had said I would track my food intake every day and to taper off to 3-4 times weekly. I failed to tabulate it daily, but did manage to log 3-4 times a week for the last two weeks. In continuing to read The Beck Diet for Life , I discovered that people who track their consumption tend to lose twice as much weight as those who don't. Fascinating! Sign me up!!
On Spark People, I signed up for a 5% 8-week challenge with the 17 Day Diet team, and am well on my way to accomplishing that goal. I am continuing to check in with my Facebook group on a regular basis, so am getting lots of support.
If you resolved to get fit and healthy this year, how are you doing with your goals and resolutions? I hope you haven't broken them, but are making strides as I am. We can do this together!
